Are there any detailed instructions for how to upload a GLO to Moodle VLE. The instructions for Blackboard are great. Would be amazing to have the equivalent for Moodle.
Thanks Rebecca

I'm not sure if I've missed the instruction about uploading RLOs in progress (I couldnt find anything) so I'll be following James' example by starting a thread.
We now have three RLOs that are largely completed. WBL, Mentoring and Self-Assessment. They are hosted here for the moment: http://www.dabblr.org/glo Two more still to complete. Please add comments here. Cheers Dickie

hi,
We have completed three learning objectives which we have altered since these we have taken off all the badges of the college and changed a couple of spelling mistakes. But these 3 ROL will give you an idea of where we are so far. First RLO is based on policy underpinning manual handling. The second ROL is based on risk assessment. The third one is based on the use of equipment. We are aware that there are some major changes which are needed within these ROl and they are being carried out as we speak but these will give you a general idea of what we have covered so far. RLO 3 http://www.mediafire.com/?vhldfdvla8un84n ROL 2 http://www.mediafire.com/?5cee91e5t3pxlw0 ROL 1 http://www.mediafire.com/?ttk2vze88bw2e8p Thank James

GLO Maker has been used to create a series of learning objects for the Anytime Literacies Learning Environment (ALLE) Project. The LTIG (Learning and Teaching Innovation Grants Programme) JISC funded project has created a flexible learning opportunity in the form of a digital journey comprised of a series of learning objects, which enables learners to embark on their own interactive journey and help them develop their learning and literacy skills. The learner journey is in three parts (the digital tools journey, the library journey and academic journey) and is currently being used by first-year business students at Thames Valley and London Metropolitan universities. The Learner Journey can be tried out at http://hermes.tvu.ac.uk/learnerjourney/index.html At the end of the project (July 2011) the Learner Journey and all the learning objects it comprises will be available for institutions to use and/or adapt (using the GLO Maker tool). In the meantime, we'd be interested to receive feedback on the journey and its component parts.
For more information about the project and its outputs, go to the project Wiki: http://alle.tvu.ac.uk

I've been trying to get JING screenshots of our library catalogue into a GLO for a demo/exercise for the library. The quality is poor once the image is uploaded. Any alternatives that anyone can suggest?

You need the GLOMaker zip file that you have created.
1. In the course or organisation, click into the area where you want to add a new resource. 2. Click on Edit View in the top right hand side. 3. Click on the Add item icon. 4. Type in the Title of the item, change the colour if required. 5. Add a Description if required (it is useful to introduce the item to students). 6. Attach local file by clicking the Browse button and navigating to the zip file you want to upload. 7. Add a Name of Link to File which will be displayed as a hyperlink. 8. In the Special Action drop down box, select: * Unpackage this file o This gives you another page where you select the first page to be displayed: o Select GLO_Player.html 9. Make the file Available if you want students to see it right away and select dates if you want restrict when students can see the item 10. Click on Submit then OK 11. Click Display View to preview the item as the students will see it.

The GLO team were invited to showcase the GLO maker at the annual learning and teaching conference, held at the Chelmsford campus on Wednesday 7th July. Staff from a wide range of disciplines explored the different examples and had a chat about how they could customise their own resources within the GLO. Guest speaker Bill Rankin (medieval literature, medieval pedagogies, and literary theory - teaches all of these via the iPhone apps!) stopped by to find out more about the stonemasons markings GLO and VC Professor Michael Thorne was rather surprised with the Women's library collaboration with the business school and the 'theory of erogenous zones' GLO

We are developing a series of GLOs will introduce students from any discipline to a structured framework for looking at artefacts and images. The initial versions will be generic but the advantage of using GLOmaker is that they can be designed to be easy for lecturers to adapt and create their own discipline-specific versions, by uploading their own images or adding more specialised sections, links to further information about eg materials and techniques. The generic GLOs will cover key questions to ask about any object, along with 'compare and contrast' exercises to help sharpen students' observation skills. The series will use copyright cleared images, which may include materials from VADS and other image archives. Weare exploring the possibility of locating a future variation on the VADS website in order to generate randomised pairs of related images for more advanced comparative exercises.

Hi I have seen people using the GLO tool on a number of occasions and think this is a great way to create effective learning and teaching resources. I would like to know where people use their resources, once created and how do you share with others. I am interested as I work for Jorum, which is the UK's national repository for learning and teaching resources. We are always looking for reusable learning objects to be deposited so others can share your knowledge and expertese. Ideally if you create your resources with a Creative Commons licence attached, then why not share in the new JorumOpen collection, which now have over 5000 resources and growing. Happy to anwer any questions, but depositing into Jorum can offer project/resource sustainability. www.jorum.ac.uk. Thanks!

Description: to investigate accessibility, legibility, road safety and personal security. The GLO will include a survey of selected routes and transport facilities that will incite the user (i.e. students) to adopt a transverse critical approach of the whole journey environment and then assess it through these four main parameters. The intention is to make this as interactive as possible.

GLOS (s) to produce an e-Learning application for the Department of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) at London Metropolitan University. The application will be used by postgraduate students in Public Health (MSc) on the core module of Social Epidemiology. The application will assist students in preparation for assessment by allowing them to interactively analyse and evaluate the impact of social, political and economic circumstances on populations and develop critical understanding and problem-solving techniques to improve public health in a national or international scenario. By using the GLO Maker this resource can be designed as a framework or template to enable its re-application in other contexts.
