We have used the GLO Maker in a number of exciting ways:
In 2008 we used it with 1st Year undergraduate students - to build portfolios encapsulating video evidence of their peer/ co-teaching (1st time teaching) at a local school in Derry, Northern Ireland. The LO's also contained audio reflections from both the students and their teacher mentors from the school. The students also included transcripts of their audio reflections.
We hope to have a paper published in 2010 working title is: 'Teachers’ reflective practice via video enquiry: the usefulness of peers, teacher mentors and video as a method to enhance the enculturation and reflection of preservice teachers.'
This year 2009/10 we have been developing resources (LO's) encapsulating A-Level Science Experiments with supporting documents, for example past papers, and additional supporting documentation. With the same school, essentially developing an effective partnership via the production of CPD & supporting materials
We hope to build additional LO's (2010) , outlining the similarities and disparities between Primary year 7 & Post-Primary year 8 in relation to the teaching and learning methods implemented in various schools in Northern Ireland.
We have other projects in 2010 focusing on the use of the GLO Maker across many subjects, for example Employability, Mathematics, Science, Literacy and Numeracy.
It's a great tool and I welcome the developments of the tool - many thanks. Fergal.
